Brooklyn Mire

University View Academy senior Brooklyn Mire of New Iberia was named a National Merit Scholarship Finalist.  She will find out in May if she is chosen to be awarded a scholarship.

After graduation, the 17-year-old plans to attend UL Lafayette in accounting, and based on her grades and ACT score, her tuition and fees should be covered even without a National Merit Scholarship.

She transferred to University View Academy this year to take advantage of more college-level courses than offered by her former brick and mortar school.  Brooklyn also works two jobs, waitressing and at a daycare center, and plays softball on a travel team.
