Why You Should Consider University View Academy
If you are looking for a proven K-12 online experience, University View Academy is a great choice. In the 2023 Parent Satisfaction Survey, families gave us 4.7 out of 5 stars overall. UVA was also designated as the Most Innovative by the Louisiana Association of Public Charter Schools in 2017. Our students come from all corners of the state and from all backgrounds, and University View Academy brings a quality school directly to their homes. The school was formed in 2011 and was previously known as Louisiana Connections Academy.
University View Academy is authorized by the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education and is solely operated by Foundation for Louisiana Students, a non-profit corporation. The school is governed by a board of directors. The board meetings are open to the public.
The school charges no tuition and no fees for materials. Online classes meet or exceed national and state standards while integrating the best materials and resources available to keep students engaged and challenged.
Children prosper when their parents take an active role in education. As learning coaches, parents use a hands-on approach to be closely involved in daily classes. Their work with dedicated teachers helps to keep students on track.

Vigorous. Challenging. Promising. University View Academy is your partner in creating your future with success and personal meaning.
Our campus is literally everywhere in Louisiana.
If I went to a brick and mortar school, I wouldn’t have as much free time as I do now. I’m able to finish my classwork much earlier in the day which then allows me to put more time toward my drama classes.

Our school wouldn’t be complete without a modern-day mascot.
The school mascot is the UVA Lynx. The Lynx is derived from the Indo-European root word leuk, which means “light, brightness” in reference to the luminescence of its reflective eyes. Just as the torch on the University View Academy crest symbolizes the individual light and spirit of each UVA student, the Lynx is similarly reflective of that same brightness. It also has a double meaning through the powerful connection of the online “links” our students utilize for their curriculum and learning.
Charter School Background
University View Academy is a Type 2 Charter School authorized by the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education.
This designation means the school is run independently and is free to be more innovative but is held accountable for improved student achievement. University View Academy is operated as a tax-exempt, non-profit school, and the seven-member Board of Directors is the governing body. Funding comes from taxpayers through the state Minimum Foundation Program (MFP). All charter schools in Louisiana are held accountable to meet student achievement goals and organizational and financial performance goals either by a local school board or by BESE using the Charter School Performance Compact. Local school boards establish charter school performance goals with each charter school board and hold schools accountable through locally-designed performance frameworks.
