UVA’s theme for the 2024-25 school year is Changing The Game: Imagine. Inspire. Innovate. so we have created a new feature this year to highlight our staff and students who demonstrate examples of imagination, inspiration, and innovation. The first feature focuses on staff inspiration.

Stacy Adams has worked in education for 20 years, and her passion is making a difference in her students’ lives. A native of Ponchatoula, La., Ms. Adams earned her master’s in business administration from Southeastern Louisiana University.

Ms. Adams joined University View Academy in January 2023 as an Algebra I teacher. She now serves as a diverse learners teacher at the high school level.  She finds joy in connecting with and helping her students overcome challenges. Her students consistently impress her with their hard work and progress showing they can achieve anything they set their mind to accomplish.

“I love connecting with my students and learning about them,” Adams said. “The online environment helps to eliminate distractions that may occur in a brick-and-mortar classroom. This enables me to work more efficiently and better to meet the needs of my students.”

UVA’s core values include adaptability, flexibility, innovation, and personalized learning. Ms. Adams focuses on providing adaptability and flexibility in her classroom. Those two core values help her meet her students where they are and lead them to where they need to go. She also embodies empathy and patience to go along with her impeccable communication skills. She strongly believes each student is unique, and it is her job to connect with them to ensure they feel supported in their studies.

In her free time, Ms. Adams is an avid runner. She believes that the hobby has taught her the importance of patience and perseverance. Her running journey began in high school and since then she has completed numerous 5Ks, 10Ks, half marathons, and even one marathon. She completed her first full marathon in 2020, and it was an achievement she will never forget.

“I had a few goals when I ran that first marathon in 2020,” she noted. “The first goal I had was to just finish – that was the main goal and I accomplished that. The second goal was to run it in under four hours. The third goal was to qualify for the Boston Marathon.”

She added, “I finished at 3 hours and 47 minutes, just under the 3 hour and 50 minute threshold to Boston qualify! It was the hardest physical feat I’ve ever taken on, but I poured my heart into training for that marathon and it paid off.”

Ms. Adams loves to relate her running experiences to education and to her students. She knows that students, with hard work, can achieve whatever they set their mind to. Her students inspire and motivate her to be the best she can be, and she hopes that she does the same for them.
