With graduation for the University View Academy (UVA) class of 2024 only two weeks away, we conclude our senior features with Omari Price. A resident of East Baton Rouge Parish, Price enrolled at UVA in 2021. UVA’s flexible learning environment supported the rich variety of Price’s interests. He holds a black belt in taekwondo, has played piano for 12 years, and participated in competitive swimming. He also finds time to devote to cooking, gardening, art, and basketball.

Price is no less busy in school. He enjoys the challenge of UVA’s Early College Academy, which allows high school students to graduate with an associate’s degree through dual enrollment credits. His favorite course is DE trigonometry, and his favorite teacher is his DE biology instructor.

He is also involved in several student clubs and organizations, including National Honor Society, DECA, yoga club, esports club, the UVA advanced music program, and Beta Club. Price has been a member of National Beta Club since fifth grade and served as president of the UVA chapter his freshman and sophomore year. He is also a member of the UVA student leadership advisory panel, a select group of dedicated students that meet to discuss solutions for issues that are important to them at UVA.

“I’m passionate about everything I do,” Price said. “It’s all about building relationships and knowing that you’re helping and supporting others.”

In the fall, Price will attend Southern University and A&M College to study physics. He hopes to become an astronomer for NASA. He is looking forward to all the opportunities in the next stage of his educational journey.

“UVA has prepared me for college,” Price said. “The Early College program has provided me with rigorous college classes, great teachers, and helped me learn how to balance my time between my classes and my extracurricular activities.”

Price is leaving behind an impressive legacy of service and involvement at UVA. The UVA class of 2024 graduation ceremony will be held at the Raising Cane’s River Center in Baton Rouge on May 25 at 4 p.m. Make plans to livestream the ceremony from our website here.
