The University View Academy DECA received the Outstanding Chapter Award, Outstanding Advisor Award and was recognized as Top Chapter in Louisiana at the recent Career Development Conference. UVA student AnnMarie Brumley won First place in Virtual Business Challenge and Virtual Business Personal Finance Challenge. Michael Hyatt won First place in the Virtual Business Accounting Challenge and the Competency Award in Principles of Finance. Cassidy Anselmo and Jackie LeDoux won Third Place in the Travel & Tourism Marketing Team Decision Making. Also, LeDoux won Second Place in Quick Service Restaurant Management Series.
Louisiana DECA awards two scholarships each year, and both went to UVA students. Jackie LeDoux received the Dennis Volentine Member Scholarship, and AnnMarie Brumley got the Carol Borskey State Officer Scholarship. Rebecca Jenkins was elected the 2021-2022 Louisiana DECA Vice-President of Hospitality.
DECA is a career and technical student organization that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs interested in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management.
