K-5 Grade Clubs

  • Culture Club: Don’t you wonder what time travel would be like? Join Culture Club, and we will “go back” in history to experience how people in past time periods and different parts of the world lived. Students will have the opportunity to share foods and costumes and suggest places and eras they would like to explore. Grades 4-5.
  • Elementary Workout Club: Elementary workout club is an excellent way to promote a healthy lifestyle. Join the club for a 30 minute workout and learn how to prepare a healthy snack.
  • National Junior Beta Club: National Beta Club’s mission is to promote the ideals of academic achievement, character, service, and leadership among students. Grades 4-5.
  • Show & Tell Club/Citizenship Club: The Show & Tell Club is a safe space for students to share anything that makes them proud – from artwork to awards to pets. Each meeting we will discuss what it looks and sounds like to be a kind and respectful citizen and support fellow students as they share. It will be a time to share and to encourage one another.

6-8 Grade Clubs

  • Anime Club: This club is for fans to discuss current anime and its history. We will write and draw while learning about professional techniques.
  • Crochet Club: The Crochet Club is a space where middle school fiber fanatics come together to share their love for all things crochet! Come learn about the art of crochet, the various types of hooks and yarn, and, most importantly, share your yarny projects with others.
  • National Junior Beta Club: National Beta Club’s mission is to promote the ideals of academic achievement, character, service, and leadership among students.
  • Nailed It! Art Club: We will join together to discuss and try different art projects. Focus is on DIY projects such as furniture, food, paintings, drawings, and household objects.
  • National Junior Honor Society: A recognition for students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. Certain GPA requirements must be met. Grades 7-9.
  • Number Ninjas Club: Members will compete in online math competitions and meet virtually with the club sponsor to work on practice problems in teams and individually. Grades 6-12.
  • Running Club: Students engage in physical activity while building positivity and a love for running.
  • TEDed Student Talks Club: A speech club that supports students in discovering, developing, and sharing their ideas in the form of TED-style talks.
  • Yoga & Meditation Club: We will explore, learn about, and practice yoga and meditation as it can improve breathing and improve self-esteem.
  • Youth Legislature Program: A program that introduces students to the legislative process. During the two-day event, students elect government leaders, participate in committees, serve as state representatives and senators, and propose, present, and vote for bills to be considered by the YL governor.

High School Clubs

  • Book Club: Wish you could discuss all those great books you read? Always feel like the book is better than the movie? Join a group of like-minded souls who want to meet to review and share ideas about classic novels. Students can participate or even lead discussions and activities.
  • Cafe Cole: Cafe Cole is a student-led club for digital arts students, but all students are welcome. Students can interact while also drinking their favorite morning beverage. There will be digital art challenges each month and a chance to share art with classmates.
  • Crochet Club: Do you crochet and want to connect with other students who enjoy the same hobby? In the Crochet Club, we will share ideas, projects you are working on, patterns, and help each other learn new techniques. All skill levels welcome.
  • Dance Break Club: Are you ready to move and groove to the beat? Join the Dance Break Club and unleash your inner dancer! Dance Break Club is the perfect place for students who love to dance, want to learn some moves, or just have a blast while getting the wiggles out. Come ready to move! Break Dancers will be taught a fun, easy-to-learn dance routine to a popular song each session as a way to promote physical and mental fitness. No pressure, no judgment, no worries, just fun movement.
  • DECA: DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management.
  • Drama Club: Are you interested in learning more about the aspects of theatre? Sign up for the UVA Drama Club! We will spend time analyzing plays and musicals, learning stage terminology, preparing audition material, discussing behind-the-scenes aspects of theatre, and much more. We will dive into dance and vocal instruction. Not a performer? Makeup design, lighting, set design, prop design, costume design, and backstage/production aspects will also be covered.
  • Garden Club: Students will learn about different techniques for gardening in Louisiana, plants, food literacy, and ecology. Students will have the opportunity to share photos and videos of their own gardens and connect with students who have similar interests. For students of any skill level.
  • Girls Who Code Club: Girls Who Code (GWC) is a club that empowers girls by closing the gender gap in technology and computer science. No coding experience is needed. Join this club if you’re interested in fostering a positive learning community around coding and programming activities with fellow students.
  • Glee Club: Students will come together in a safe environment to share their talented voices or musical instruments for others to enjoy. This year, students will have access to the Lynx Den stage for students to perform live! We will meet in-person at the Lynx Den once a month starting in the spring.
  • GSA – Gay/Straight Alliance: Are you in high school and a member or ally of the LGBTQIA+ community? Would you like a safe virtual space to meet and connect with other students like yourself? This club is inclusive. You don’t need to fit into one category or another. If you do not identify as LGBTQIA+ but consider yourself an ally, consider joining.
  • Lynx E-Sports: Are you into gaming? Do you think you’d be great at competing in e-sports? Would you like to join a community of students in the world of gaming? If you are, you should join the Lynx E-Sports club. E-Sports allows students the ability to learn teamwork, social skills, and compete individually and as a team.
  • Lynx Links: Students will join the UVA Auditorium Live Session Room once per month for social activities like Bingo, Cutest Pet Contest, Best Halloween Costume, “The Nice List,” guest speakers, and many others! We just want to get together, have fun, and enjoy some online interaction. Students do not have to be a member of the Lynx Links Club to participate in the Live Session activities. This club is open to all students, so there is no need to apply! Just come to the announced meetings and have a good time! Look for these fun events on your calendar in Canvas.
  • Muslim Student Association (MSA): As-Salaam Alaikum, and welcome to all! This is a club to join together as a community and find an ummah in those around you. Join a space where you can socialize and learn more about the real Islamic values, tradition, lifestyle, and overall religion. In this club, we will discuss who Muslims are, clear out common stereotypes, bask in the light of the Quran, and embark on a journey of self-actualization as Muslims. Non-Muslim students are equally welcome to join.

  • UVA Quiz Bowl Club: Quiz Bowl is a fast-paced buzzer competition in which teams of players compete to answer questions that cover academic subjects like literature and science, as well as popular culture and current events. All competitions are held in-person at locations across the state. Ideal candidates for the UVA Quiz Bowl Team are confident and capable of competing in a fast-paced academic arena. This will require a dedication to attending and participating in virtual practices every other Friday afternoon, traveling to competitions across the state, and working as a team. This team is open to students who meet a minimum qualification of a 3.5 GPA. Limited spots available.
  • UVA PawPrints Newspaper Club: Students will collaborate, research, and report on UVA news and current events throughout the state of Louisiana, and publish an online “newspaper” that is shared with the school. This is a good opportunity for students interested in journalism and other writing opportunities. Limited spots available.
  • Yoga & Wellness Club: Looking for a place to relax and reconnect? The Yoga & Wellness Club will practice a series of activities to relieve stress, build community, and exercise mindfulness. Students have the choice to participate in several activities, plan initiatives, and even lead meditation or yoga sessions. All students and teachers are welcome.
