University View Academy (UVA) staff and educators recently joined together at the Price LeBlanc PACE Center in Gonzales to kick off the 2026-27 school year at the annual staff convocation. The theme for the school year is “Growing Every Learner, Achieving Every Goal, Thriving Every Day,” reflective of Louisiana’s new accountability model.
The keynote speaker for the event was Caroline Roemer, Executive Director of the Louisiana Association of Public Charter Schools. Roemer encouraged the gathered educators and staff to enter the new school year with determination, motivated by knowledge of the profound difference they make for students.
The room buzzed with excited conversation as staff members reconnected with colleagues after the summer break, with each school level dressed according to a fun theme or color. They also enjoyed a riveting staff talent show with performances ranging from flute and vocal to dance routines. Stage magician and motivational speaker Dewayne Hill delighted the audience with sleight of hand tricks and poignant applications to education.
The afternoon concluded with practical updates and strategies from school leadership that will advance UVA’s academic priorities, as well as two panel discussions hosted by teachers.
