University View Academy (UVA) held its annual student art expo on Wednesday, April 1, at the Lynx Den STEAM Center.

UVA students from elementary, middle, and high school art classes were able to submit their portfolios for exhibition. Some students brought their physical artwork to display in-person, while artwork from students across the state was displayed on screens.

“Virtual art instruction encourages independence, problem-solving, and creative risk-taking, because students learn to make artistic choices using the subject matter they have available inside and outside their home,” said art teacher Charlotte Collins. “It offers a much more personalized approach.”

Staff, students, and families had the chance to mingle, participate in a fun art scavenger hunt, and stroll through the exhibition. Several UVA teachers enjoyed spotting their students’ names on display.

The student art expo celebrates student growth throughout the year, builds confidence, and offers students a glimpse of an art career by displaying their art for an audience.
