University View Academy (UVA) art students Lanie Kilpatrick (10th grade), Sofia Nelton (10th grade), and Isabella Standard (12th grade) had their artwork selected for the Fall 2025 edition of the prestigious “Celebrating Art” student anthology. Kilpatrick also received an honorable mention in the 2026 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.
“I was overjoyed when I found out I got recognized by the Scholastic Awards competition,” Kilpatrick said. “There were over 300,000 applicants.”
Kilpatrick has been at UVA for five years and never regretted her choice. “UVA offers a unique opportunity to develop self-motivation and responsibility skills, which are crucial to growing and thriving,” Kilpatrick said. She hopes this recognition will assist her in acceptance to her dream university, Carnegie Mellon University. She plans to major in biomedical science with a minor in art so she can pursue a career in biomedical illustration.
Nelton has also been at UVA for five years and enjoys her art classes. “I just enjoy creating, it’s purely fun,” Nelton said. “It’s always nice to see the outcome after a lot of hard work.” Beginning her junior year, Nelton plans to enroll in UVA’s Early College and Career Academy and take drafting classes through a technical college.
UVA is proud to honor these young artists and prepare them for their futures. Catch more student accomplishments by following University View Academy on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn.
