Earlier this spring, members of the Foundation for Louisiana Students Board of Directors gathered at University View Academy (UVA) to officially unveil and dedicate its new park and playground. The space was dedicated in memory of Luther Beckett “Skip” Gladney, who served as a board member.
Gladney served on the board of directors at UVA’s (formerly Louisiana Connections Academy) inception until his death in 2016. He was a teacher for 20 years and passionate about education. His enthusiasm, experience, and insight greatly benefited UVA.
The playground, dedicated to Gladney’s love for the outdoors and for students, is marked by a bespoke bronze plaque designed in his memory. Several of Gladney’s surviving family members and UVA staff attended the dedication and a brief reception afterwards.
