BATON ROUGE, LA – University View Academy (UVA), Louisiana’s leading K-12 online public charter school governed by the Foundation for Louisiana Students, announced today a transition in its board leadership. Linda Holliday tendered her resignation from her role as Board President and board member after more than 12 years of dedicated service and leadership to the school, its students, and its community. Holliday previously served as treasurer and played a pivotal role in guiding University View Academy through significant enrollment growth, supporting innovative virtual learning initiatives, identifying opportunities for campus growth and expansion, and broadening educational access for thousands of students across Louisiana during her tenure.
“On behalf of the entire University View Academy community, we extend our deepest gratitude to Linda Holliday for her steadfast leadership, vision, and unwavering commitment to our mission,” said Superintendent Dr. Quentina Timoll. “As we look to the future, we will continue collaborating with our incoming officer team to remain focused on supporting our educators, empowering our families, and ensuring every UVA student receives a high-quality, personalized online education.”
Following Holliday’s resignation, the Board of Directors approved a new slate of officers to lead the organization into its next chapter of academic achievement and statewide impact. The new officers are:
- John Price, President
- John Cavell, Vice President
- Grace Anderson, Treasurer
- Dr. Hala Esmail, Secretary
Price is a native of Southwest Louisiana and a graduate of LSU and the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at LSU where he was inducted into the LSU Law School Hall of Fame. He served as Chief Administrative Officer for the City of Baton Rouge under Mayor Melvin “Kip” Holden. During this tenure, he was named chairman of the Future BR Implementation Committee that was charged with implementing the East Baton Rouge Parish long term land use and development plan. He was also named to Mayor Sharon Weston Broome’s Women’s Advancement Commission to promote policies and services that address and respond to the needs of women and girls in our community. He has maintained a civil litigation practice in Louisiana for over 30 years.
The new executive officers bring a wealth of diverse professional experience and a shared dedication to advancing public charter education in Louisiana. They assumed their roles immediately and will continue to oversee governance for the upcoming academic year.
