Music Video Honor for UVA Senior
University View Academy 12th grader Chaislyn Jane King of Baton Rouge is nominated for Best Video by the International Christian Film and Music Festival, which will be selected in May at an awards ceremony in Orlando, FL. Chaislyn Jane is a singer-songwriter and actress in her first year at UVA. The video featuring the song, “Carole”, was inspired by her contact with children who have disabilities while working for “Be Our Guest Royal Princess Parties” in Prairieville. She dresses as Disney-themed princesses for birthday parties. The video features a child with Downs Syndrome. Watch it by clicking this link.
Her mom Lorri and father Jeff say they are more than proud and have high praise for the flexibility and personalized learning offered by University View Academy. Jeff says, “Both my wife and I graduated from large public high schools in the early ’80s and didn’t know anything about UVA or taking online classes for high school students. So I wasn’t really keen on the idea when my daughter and wife first told me she wanted to take UVA online her senior year because it would allow her to do her school work around her singing and acting schedule, as well as pursue more opportunities outside Baton Rouge. I can’t guarantee UVA is the right choice for every kid or family, but it’s been the perfect fit for us.”
Chaislyn Jane will also sing in an upcoming movie called “Teen Musical, the Movie”, which will be filmed in the New Orleans area in June.
Congratulations and Good Luck to Chaislyn Jane in May!
