Elementary students recently enjoyed an afternoon of math magic at University View Academy’s (UVA) first Numeracy Day!
They participated both virtually and in-person in various math challenges and finished the day victorious. Each elementary math teacher set up a table for their grade and filled the room with puzzles and games. Students practiced long division, multiplication tables, “guess the number” games, explored values through cards, and more. Even the elementary school principal, Ms. London, joined in the fun. If students completed the challenge at each station, they earned candy and a medal.
Numeracy Day is part of UVA’s ongoing efforts to reinforce strong math instruction in the earliest grades. Be on the lookout for STEM Day coming soon.
