University View Academy’s Lynx Den STEAM Center is a state-of-the-art facility that offers performance stages, esports opportunities, robotics, 3D printing, and more! A 10,000-square-foot building, the Lynx Den hosts a wide range of events for UVA students to access.
What Is STEAM?
STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. STEAM education is an approach to learning that uses the aforementioned subjects as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking.
Events
The Lynx Den STEAM Center hosts weekly events for UVA students, including study hall hours, maker space events, esports sessions, performances, science fairs, and more.
The Performance Area
When visitors arrive, they are greeted by the performance area. Several desks, chairs, and booths are placed in this area to allow students and teachers to work together in collaboration.
The performance stage is frequented by the UVA drama club and the UVA glee club. Students and teachers act out skits, play the piano, and sing on the stage that features professional theater lighting.
The Maker Space
A true place of innovation and creativity, UVA students can attend bi-weekly maker space events that allow them to build and make things they are learning about. Rubber band cars. Robotics. 3D printing. Catapults. Slime. The opportunities are endless.
A seated area that features raised seats with a bar allows UVA students to work together and help one another while creating their masterpieces.
Esports
The Lynx Arena features 27 high-powered Digital Storm gaming computers, five Nintendo Switches, two Playstation 5s, and two Xbox Series Xs.
UVA students have access to join the esports club to play in competitions. The esports club is split up by grade level with groupings for elementary, middle, and high school students.
Not interested in joining the club? UVA students have access to utilize the Lynx Arena with free play slots for elementary, middle, and high school students. UVA also hosts community game days for the whole family.

UVA students utilize the latest technology at the Lynx Den STEAM Center, located at 4715 Bennington Avenue in Baton Rouge, La.
