University View Academy, Louisiana’s largest K-12 online public school, has an Interim Superintendent to take over for Dr. Michelle Clayton, who retired effective February 14th. The school’s board selected Dr. Shana King, the current Executive Director of Federal Programs and Early College Academy. “I am humbled and honored to have been chosen by my peers and our board as the new interim superintendent of UVA. I will dedicate my time and effort to protecting and continuing the reputation, growth, and success of our school. UVA’s inertia will continue as I work to support the vision and mission of UVA”, she said. Dr. King has been with the school for five years in various leadership roles, including High School Principal. She’s been in the field of education for 31 years, including 21 years in the classroom at the college level. Dr. King has previously worked for the East Baton Rouge Parish School System, LSU, and the Louisiana Department of Education.

She received her undergraduate degree in Educational Psychology at Tulane University, Newcomb College, and her Ph.D. at LSU in Educational Research Methodology, Assessment, and Evaluation.

Dr. King will hold the position until the board selects a permanent superintendent. There is a nationwide search for a superintendent underway.
