University View Academy (UVA) junior Mason Standard recently earned a Platinum National Career Readiness Certificate™ (NCRC) from his score on the ACT® WorkKeys® Assessment.
Unlike other assessments, ACT WorkKeys Assessments do not simply indicate reading and writing competency. Instead, they measure a range of hard and soft skills relevant to any occupation, at any level, and across industries. They are designed to measure foundational workplace skills such as applied math, graphic literacy, workplace documents, applied technology, and business writing. The platinum certificate is the highest NCRC awarded and indicates an excellent score on the workplace documents, applied math, and graphic literacy assessments.
Standard follows Louisiana’s Jump Start Graduation Pathway, which focuses on preparing students for the workforce or technical college. Jump Start requires students to earn industry-based credentials to graduate. The track offers several Career Technical Education (CTE) courses such as video production, entrepreneurship, and technical writing. Beginning in eleventh grade, Jump Start students can choose to enroll in UVA’s Technical College Academy.

Standard currently resides in Livingston Parish. He enrolled at UVA during his freshman year. He enjoys UVA’s flexible learning environment that allows him more time to work and to spend with his family and friends. He is still exploring his career plans and post-graduation opportunities, but he is currently considering becoming a company driver or a real estate appraiser. Congratulations Mason!
