Technology
Canvas is the platform that your student will be able to view all of her/his assignments. A link to Canvas can be found on universityview.academy in the top left portion of the home page.
Students will log in to Canvas via their UVA-issued laptop. Students will land on a personalized dashboard showing their current courses, contacts, and resource links. The dashboard highlights important dates, schedules, and calendar views to help students and families track assignments and activities.
Parents are encouraged to create a Canvas observer account as well. A link to the Canvas observer account can be found on universityview.academy in the top left portion of the home page as well. You will need to use a pairing code from your student’s account. Details to pair your accounts can be found in the family onboarding course.
Parents will be able to pair their account with their student’s account to verify attendance, monitor progress, and communicate with teachers. A video below featuring UVA’s Chief of Innovation and Strategy, Janna Husser, will guide you through the process of signing into Canvas.
If you experience any problems with your student’s laptop, you are encouraged to contact MIS Technology Group via email or phone. Their email is support@uview.academy or they can be reached via phone at 225-286-1600.
Student Supplies
Each year, University View Academy ships instructional supplies and other grade-level specific supplies to our students. For the most up-to-date calendar of when to expect to receive supplies for your student, please visit our Instructional Materials Support page. If you have any additional questions, please email instructional.materials@uview.academy.
Setting Up Your Schedule
Learning at University View Academy is unique and rewarding. UVA families are afforded flexibility with the right to create their schedule how it fits best for them. High school English teacher, Christy Maurice, and learning community coach, Selena Guilbeaux, have written two blogs that will help you get a head start on the school year.
