Marcie McBride

Marcie McBride says she laughs a lot.  "I'm just goofy.  Every day there's something."  It's like the time she forgot to turn on her microphone during a live session for her fifth-graders in social studies.  Her students messaged they couldn't hear her and McBride realized she had muted the microphone inadvertently.  She called it a learning moment and moved on.  "I think that makes me more relatable.  I laugh at myself."

McBride's been teaching 15 years, three with University View Academy.  The big difference she says she sees in the online environment of UVA is that it's more personalized and the connection with students is better than in a brick and mortar school.  She relishes in helping customize students' learning.  "During the school day, we work through hurdles, and we get to know each other very well.  It's easier to reach the students, not as many distractions.  The child gets that undivided attention," she stated.

She is a native of Crowley who achieved her undergraduate and masters degrees in education at LSU.  McBride shaped her teaching philosophy around nurturing her students.  She says, "I create an environment where the student is loved and cared for.  I have their best interests at heart, and we learn from there.  I love my babies."

McBride is an avid reader and says she loves to spend time with her two boys.  On weekends you’ll find her on the sidelines of their soccer matches.  Also, as often as she can, McBride says she enjoys boating with her family on Lake Rosemound north of St. Francisville in West Feliciana Parish.
