University View offers the same activities, clubs, and field trips as any traditional brick-and-mortar school and proudly boasts about its National Honor Society, National Junior Honor Society, and National Beta Clubs.
University View High School Business Teacher Joan Magee coordinates these programs and works hard to assure their success.
“We have to be creative when it comes to club projects because our students are located in various regions of Louisiana,” said Mrs. Magee. “This year, NHS and Beta will be writing letters to the elderly in our communities.”
This past month, U View inducted over 35 students to the clubs and held an in-person ceremony in Ponchatoula. To involve students unable to attend, Mrs. Magee helped conduct an online ceremony so they still experienced this special moment.
That dedication is why many knew the Providence College graduate would be the perfect person to lead the programs. “I have always loved teaching and coaching,” said Mrs. Magee.
This holiday season, you may find her at an ice skating rink when she isn’t busy teaching. She was a Division I Ice Hockey Player at Providence and coached figure skating and ice hockey when she moved to Louisiana
